Treating the Whole Person
The traditional Chinese medicine healing system focuses of treating the whole person. This means that if you come in for neck pain we don't just treat the sore muscle we also treat the root of the problem. Common root issues for pain include stress, overuse, exhaustion and ergonomics. We are always searching for the cause of your imbalance so that you can heal as completely as possible. To do this we utilize many tools including acupuncture, herbal medicine and supplementation, cupping, gua sha, moxa, lifestyle and nutrition recommendations.
Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into specific areas of the body to illicit a healing response. These needles are single use and disposable. There may be a brief sensation upon insertion that will subside into a pleasant state of relaxation.
Herbal Medicine & Supplementation
Dr. Anderson combines her years of herbal medicine training and her applied kinesiology skills to recommend supplements and herbal remedies when appropriate. Her goal is to get you well as quickly as possible. Combing acupuncture with herbs and supplements is sometimes the best way to accomplish this.
"Suction cups are placed on the body to provide a 'reverse massage' where the tissue is compressed away from the body. It helps to increase circulation and bring oxygen to the area- great for chronic tension in the neck, shoulders, and back."
Gua sha is a scraping treatment that can dramatically release tight muscles and knots. It is also very healing for fevers, chills, coughs, wheezing, nausea and vomiting.
"This is a gentle treatment where small amounts of dried mugwort herb (artemisia argyi) are lit near the skin, to warm specific areas or points. It can be helpful for a variety of applications, from pain relief to labor preparation."
